Yes, I meant it. Politically speaking, I think it is not going to play well with most voters. Why is Norma defending Eddie Holguin, Jr.
I believe City Rep. Eddie Holguin made an honest effort to invest in a Lower Valley Christmas light show. I believe his efforts were sincere and in the spirit of Christmas. He was not malicious nor did he hold behind closed door meetings to secure light contracts for political contributors or allies. What is disturbing of this public discussion is the mean spirited tone during this holiday season. Because what I witnessed at the opening, was the joy of the children who were singing Christmas songs with their families and friends.
The children did not know if there were 1 million lights or lights, they only knew they had lights in a neighborhood park they are familiar with. And public displays should be in all neighborhoods including those South of the freeway.
And so I thank Rep. Holguin for planting that seed so we can grow it, much like Austin has. Unfortunately, budget cuts resulted in the lights display being cancelled for 2 years until this year when they displayed a million lights. It too is a walking display and it was beautiful. And big, mid-size, and small businesses stepped up to the plate to help the limited public funding.
A smart approach to a public project. We have an opportunity to grow this. What is the Christmas spirit to you? Linus pretty much wraps it up for me! Merry Christmas. I actually agree with bulk of her points. Subjective though it is, it would be hard to refute that the display has brought some people some amount of joy and holiday spirit and that is wonderful.
But I disagree with her assertion that putting smiles the faces of children was Rep. He thought this would be a slam dunk to score a couple political points.
But sometimes, even skilled basketball players mess up trying to dunk. And he deserves all the criticism and shame that a community, which as a result of his hapless actions has been embarrassed and ashamed, can dump upon his head though certainly not in a mean-spirited way.
Norma is showing that she may have lost her touch for the game, if not the Christmas Spirit, because it is politically Stupid with a capital S to associate yourself with a failure.
Either that, or she is in town to see a real public lights display like she talks about above. Norma only had to travel miles to see some real lights. Joe Moody can look forward to a second consecutive, third total, term in the Texas House of Representatives. Moody will face a challenger in neither the primary nor the general election.
So congrats, Joey! And so I thank Rep. Holguin for planting that seed so we can grow it, much like Austin has. So last night was the Lyda Ness-Garcia show. This past Monday night, though, belonged to Cesar Blanco. Blanco announced that he was going to run for the spot on the Delegation formerly occupied by candidate Norma Chavez who I will not discuss further in this piece, but have done a bit already and currently occupied by this person:. Now, I use the mugshot because it is powerful.
And because it is fair. There is no such thing as a neutral picture, you either look bad or you look good. For me, what is most troubling is that after the accident she expressed no concern about anyone involved in the collision including the bicyclist who went to the hospital.
She did however, again this is according to the police interviewer, express concern that her career was now over. Showing how shallow your view of public service is, right after you got a DWI is probably a potential political poison pill. His event was very well-attended, both in terms of numbers and the folks who came.
Precinct chairs, former Congressman Reyes, high-level donors, and plenty of electeds and candidates I tolerated the presence of some of my less favorite Lower Valley pols, since that is the neck of the woods District 76 represents and getting the local power players to be present is a plus were there. However, here is a guy that says responsible, intelligent and hard-working. The Candidate and a diverse, multi-generational group of backers. The first thing Eddie Holguin, Jr.
