The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I loved the amenities that the hotel had to offer. Wonderful host, accommodating to all our needs. The hotel offers a refrigerator in every room. The hotel is in a great location. The room on the upper floor gives a fantastic view of the bay and The room was unique, extrememly clean and the bed very comfy.
The audio tour is great! Everyone can enjoy this tour at his own pace. Also there are Park Rangers that will tell you more amazing stories about different aspects of the island and it's buildings. Everyone should visit at least once. The history is interesting and the self guided audio tour lets you go at your own pace. Be prepared for a windy and chilly ferry ride there and back but the scenery is breathtaking.
I was actually taken there by my friend, as I hadn't planned to go there and if I has missed this, I would have regret this until the rest of my life! I was very surprised, how great Alcatraz - place and its' history is. Not only the travel there is fast and pleasurable, but being there and listening to the audio guide with recorded voices of prisoners and guards, while doing a tour inside the Alcatraz prison is unforgettable experience!
Highly recommended! Tour kept my youngest son aged 7 entertained. We were fortunate enough to visit on a day when one of the few survivors from Alcatraz was there. Really interesting stories and delightful to meet him. Trip needs to be booked weeks in advance. It sells out very fast.
Fascinating, but yet sad for the past inmates- a horrible living situation. I was really looking forward to a boat ride, but found the subject matter much more fascinating! Hotel staff were very accommodating and nice. Asked for several extra items and received them. Nice and spacious for a family of four. The kitchen was great and came with a lot of items. The view form the roof top was very nice too. You can see Alcatraz, both bridges and the Wharf. Super safe and close to a lot of attractions.
It was a beautiful little place reminded me of a bed and breakfast. It was so much more then I expected for price. Like most big cities parking and valet service is extra. If I were to travel to San Francisco again no car needed, I'd take the train to town,then ride the hop on hop off city bus. Make reservations in advance for Alcatraz tour and stay at Petite Augberge. I was there with family competing in the Escaoe from Alcatraz triathlon.
It was a great location for getting to them Ariana green and lots of food options around. This is probably the one good reason to book this hotel. Walking distance to the Pier 39, ferry to Alcatraz and other touristic locations.
The Staff was extremely helpful and kept our luggage in the office while we took a tour of Alcatraz Island and arranged for a taxi to pick us up!
