Kit Carson Park. This massive, sprawling compound has something for everyone including two play structures, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts, three ponds, and places to picnic and barbecue. While all those attributes are admirable, there are truly two things that turn this particular park into a magical playground. The first is a Frisbee golf course that snakes through the property delighting kids of all ages. The other is Niki de Saint Phalle's Queen Califia's Magical Circle—it's nestled inside of a 12 acre arboretum and features stunning mosaic sculptures, perfect for a game of I Spy or hide and seek.
Insider tip: The Magical Circle is closed on rainy days and the days that follow measurable precipitation so check the weather before you head out. Hours vary by season and day of the week. Kellogg Park. It makes a great first stop for a day at the beach while the car is being unloaded and beach base camp is being established. The play structures are pretty standard but there is a smaller, safer, separate one for toddlers. Insider tip: Due, in part, to its proximity to the beach, parking in the lot can be a pain, especially on the weekends, but there is a good amount of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
Tidelands Park. The play structure was completely redone in and now goes above and beyond the ADA requirements mandated by law which means all kids can play here with ease. Playgrounds located on schools that remain open for in-person instruction, and not accessible by the general public, may remain open and must follow guidance for schools and school-based programs.

Are there any food tours that you would recommend with small children, or any that allow small children to come? I know that Bite San Diego offers private tours. And then if they kids get squirrely, you can move on to another place without worrying about the other tour goers!

Would like to do all of these great outings. GoCard San Diego also provides a great opportunity to save if you plan on visiting a lot of attractions. We sure loved the trolley ride tour with my 4 and 5 year-olds. They loved seeing all the sites and exploring in different areas. The bay side of Mission Beach was our favorite hang out spot. The water was super calm for the girls.
